Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Dennis R. Kirk entered the U.S. Army in January of 2002 from his hometown of Hopatcong, NJ and conducted Infantry One Station Unit Training at Ft. Benning, Georgia. During his career, CSM Kirk has served in every leadership position from team leader to Command Sergeant Major. CSM Kirk currently serves as the ninth Command Sergeant Major of 20th CBRNE Command, the Army’s only integrated command with CBRN, EOD, and laboratory capabilities. CSM Kirk’s most recent assignments were Brigade Command Sergeant Major of 1-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 7th Infantry Division, where he deployed in support of Korea Rotational Force 15, and Battalion Command Sergeant Major for 4th Battalion, 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard). CSM Kirk has three combat deployments and four operational deployments. CSM Kirk’s previous assignments include: 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, Ft. Drum, NY where he deployed to Operation Enduring Freedom four, six and seven; 3rd Battalion, 13th Infantry Regiment, Ft. Jackson, SC, where he served as a Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor; Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 25th Infantry Division, where he deployed to Operation New Dawn serving as the USF-I Commanding General’s Protective Service Detail Platoon Sergeant and also served as 25th ID Lightning Academy Platoon Sergeant for Pre Ranger, Lightning Leaders Course, Combatives Level I/II, and Adaptive Leaders Program; 3rd Battalion, 69th Armored Regiment, Ft. Stewart, GA, where he deployed to Operation Atlantic Resolve four; 1st Battalion, 64th Armored Regiment, Ft. Stewart, GA, where he served as the Bravo Company and HHC 1SG, and deployed in support of Atlantic Resolve five and six; Senior Military Science Instructor, James Madison University; and Operations Sergeant Major for 1st BN, 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard). His military education includes the Basic Leaders Course (Commandants List); Advanced Leaders Course (Commandant's List); Senior Leaders Course; and the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Class 70 (Commandants List). Other schools and courses include Javelin Trainers Course; Ranger Course; Airborne School; Long Range Surveillance Leaders Course; Drill Sergeant School; Combatives Level Three; Total Army Instructor Training Course; and Air Assault School. CSM Kirk is a member of the Order of Saint Maurice (Centurion) and the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara. CSM Kirk has earned a Bachelor’s Degree from American Military University in Management and a Master’s Degree from Excelsior College in Management.
