Brigadier General W Bochat

Brigadier General W Bochat assumed command of the 20th Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosives (CBRNE) Command on 6 August 2024 at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. She is the tenth commander of the Army’s only integrated command with CBRN, EOD, and laboratory capabilities. BG Bochat was most recently assigned as the Chief of Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) and the 33rd Commandant of the US Army CBRN School.
 
BG Bochat served as a Counterintelligence Agent prior to commissioning via the Officer Candidate School.  She graduated Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in English.  She holds a Master’s in Military Arts & Science (MMAS) from the School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) and a Master’s in National Security and Resource Strategy with an emphasis on Long Term Strategy from National Defense University - Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy.  She is also a graduate of The British Higher Command and Staff College.
 
BG Bochat’s tactical command and leadership positions include 48th Chemical Brigade (CBRN), Fort Cavazos, TX; 2nd Chemical Battalion (CBRN), Fort Cavazos, TX; and 68th Chemical Company (Heavy Divisional Chemical Company, 1-21 MLRS, DIVARTY, 1st Cavalry Division).  She was the Chief of Staff for ROK-US Combined 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Humphreys, Korea.
 
Her strategic assignments include Senior Military Advisor for the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense of CWMD Policy, and Deputy CJ5 and the lead CIV-MIL Planner for Combined Joint Interagency Task Force (CJTIAF) 435, Camp Phoenix, Afghanistan where her team was responsible for planning Rule of Law, Detention, and Reintegration Operations.
 
Her deployments include Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Desert Shield, Operations Desert Storm and Operation Provide Comfort.  BG Bochat has served OCONUS in South Korea twice.  She speaks fluent Japanese.
 
BG Bochat’s husband is a retired Army JAG Officer.  They are proud parents of two sons and recently welcomed a daughter-in-law.
