Brigadier General W Bochat assumed command of the 20th Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosives (CBRNE) Command on 6 August 2024 at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. She is the tenth commander of the Army’s only integrated command with CBRN, EOD, and laboratory capabilities. Prior to his position BG Bochat was the Chief of Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) and the 33rd Commandant of the US Army CBRN School.
BG Bochat’s tactical command and leadership positions include Chief of Staff for ROK-US Combined 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Humphreys, Korea; Commander, 48th Chemical (CBRN) Brigade, Fort Cavazos, TX; Commander, 2nd Chemical Battalion (CBRN), Fort Cavazos, TX; and Commander, 68th Chemical Company (Heavy Divisional Chemical Company, 1-21 MLRS, DIVARTY, 1st Cavalry Division).
Her strategic assignments include Senior Military Advisor for the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense of CWMD OSD Policy and deputy CJ5 and lead CIV-MIL Planner for Combined Joint Interagency Task Force (CJTIAF). Her deployments include Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Desert Shield, Operations Desert Storm and Operation Provide Comfort.
BG Bochat holds a Master’s degree in National Security and Resource Strategy with an emphasis on Long Term Strategy from National Defense University - Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy; Master’s in Military Arts & Science (MMAS) from the School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in English from Jacksonville State University. She recently graduated from The British Higher Command and Staff College and speaks Japanese.
BG Bochat’s is happily married to a retired Army JAG Officer for more than 31 years. Team Bochat are proud parents of two children.
