Major General Daryl O. Hood

Major General Hood served as the Deputy Director of Operations, Team Four, J3, Joint Staff at the National Joint Operations Intelligence Center, National Military Command Center, at the Pentagon, from June 2021 to August 2022. He served as the 31st Chief of Chemical and Commandant, U.S. Army Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) School at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri from 2019-2021. While at the Pentagon from 2017-2019, he served as the Chief, Full Dimension Protection Division, G8, Headquarters Department of the Army and the Deputy Director, Joint Requirements Office for CBRN Defense, J8, Joint Staff.
 
Throughout his career, Major General Hood has served in a variety of command and staff assignments located in the United States, Europe, South Korea, Middle East, and Central Asia. Most notably, he served as Commander, 3rd Chemical Brigade; Commander, 110th Chemical Battalion; Commander, 87th Chemical Company, 4th Squadron (Aviation), 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment. His staff and special assignments include: Chemical Officer, 4th Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery; Platoon Leader, 4th Chemical Company, 2d Infantry Division (Korea); Chemical Officer and G3 Assistant Training Officer, U.S. Army Garrison, Joint Readiness Training Center and Fort Polk; Chemical Officer, 2d Armored Calvary Regiment (2ACR), later 1st Armored Division (Forward), Bosnia Herzegovina (OPERATION JOINT ENDEAVOR); Chief, NBC Recon Branch, later Operations Officer, 84th Chemical Battalion, later Small Group Leader, Chemical Captains Career Course, 84th Chemical Battalion, 3d Chemical Brigade; Operations Officer, Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Crisis Action Team, Operations Division, J3, U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM); Chemical Officer, 8th Military Police Separate Brigade (Korea); Operations Officer, 23d Chemical Battalion, 555th Combat Support Engineer Brigade (Maneuver Enhancement) (Provisional), later Executive Officer, 23rd Chemical Battalion and Task Force Cincinnatus, 82nd Airborne Division, Regional Command East, OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM (OEF); Deputy, later Chief, CBRN Branch, Joint Security Office and Force Protection Division, J3, USCENTCOM, later Liaison Officer, J3, USCENTCOM (Forward), International Security Assistance Force and U.S. Forces-Afghanistan (OEF); Deputy Commanding Officer, 3rd Chemical Brigade.
 
Major General Hood graduated from the University of Georgia in December 1991 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Technology Management, and he also received his commission through the Army ROTC Program. He holds a Master’s Degree in Human Resources from Webster University and one in Strategic Studies from the Air University. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army’s Chemical Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Army Combined Arms Services Staff School, Army Command and General Staff College, and Air Force Senior Service College.
